Dominion D4350 for 6.5X55 and 300WSM

Has anyone used the Dominion 4350 for the 6.5X55 or the 300WSM that would normally use the IMR 4350? Was it similar to the amount of IMR4350 used?

Thanks,

Scott

My accuracy load with D4350 in 6.5 X 55 is 42gr. I used WLRM primers, 140gr Hornady HPBT and mixed cases. 5-Shot groups were around 1MOA, some a little less, some a little larger. Testing was done with a M38 Swedish Mauser sporter with a 4-12X scope. I like this powder, can't wait to test it on other calibers. Apart from IMR4831, this powder is the best for my rifle.

Thanks for the info. Did you ever use IMR 4350?

My rifle, a Carl Gustaf Swedish Mauser sporter, had the best accuracy with 45 grains of IMR 4350 and a 140 grain SST. I'm wondering if I really need to go down to 40 gr. and work my way up, but for safety sake I will. After that I'll test it in my 300WSM.

Best accuracy with IMR4350 that I got was with 45gr. 5-Shot groups around 2MOA. All other components the same and same rifle. D4350 worked significantly better in my rifle.

I have a couple cans of D4350 sitting in the case, but I haven't used them yet. I did however compare samples of D4198 and IMR 4198 in my lab the other day. I can't measure pressure, but using a universal receiver and Doppler radar I found IMR to be 1.3% faster with the same charge in a .223. I was impressed how close they were. I only did 3 or each though and averaged. If I get time, I'll do the same with the D4064 and D4350 that I bought.

I had the 4198 before, but when the states started looking screwy and covid started to become a thing, I picked up 20 pounds of 4064 and 4350 in case it got hard to get for a long time. Not much you can't reload with 4198, 4064 and 4350.

Is there more than one lot?

They are not canister grade. Each lot is going to need a work up. Powder for retail is made in huge lots, they test it for burn rate, then blend in some "fast" or "slow" 4350 to get it very close to every other 1lb or.8lb sold.in the last.decades. These dominion powders could be 10% slower or faster, easily pushing into other powders burn rate range, such as the one poster.above saying it's slower almost 4831.
