Used to be called "Vintage Rifle Shoot", but every rifle is welcome, so we changed the name to Winona Sheutzenfest...

Here are the dates - all at the Winona Range (near Grimsby). On the Lake, beside the QEW at Fifty Road.

June 7- Vintage

July 5-Vintage

Sept 6- Vintage

Mark your calendars.

Might still be able to add a June date for Camp Borden, too.

Shooting is at 100, 200 and 300 yards. Will shoot Slow fire (10 shots in 10 minutes), Snap (1 shot per 3 second exposure) and Mover (target walks about 20 feet per exposure). Bring 120 rounds of ammo. You can shoot more than one rifle if you want. I might shoot my SKS at 100 and my repro MB Sniper at 300.

w:h: Attention all Gunnutter's, Ganderite and his buddies put on an excellent day. Last year I don't believe I saw any Mosin's, Swiss K31's, so bring em!

Gander, is there a possibility for a friendly competition for only those with unmodified battle/iron sights? 2 lanes irons, the other lanes anything (optics) goes?

In any event, I'll be there to be humbled again! ;)

His pic scares the hell out of me, he looks like my Dentist going in for a root canal.

Good on you for organizing the events Ganderite. Looks like your efforts are appreciated.

I always pictured Ganderite to look more like his avatar.

Laugh2 He does sort of look like his avatar! The guy pictured was a shooter, and cgn'er not Ganderite.

@ Crash, yea "Herman" got aerated alright. If memory serves, that particular target was hit from 300 meters by a fellow in is 70's...perhaps pushing 80. I was in the pits with Gander, and the shooter was one of his buddies. The last 3 rounds were over Herman's rifle very deliberately...I was gaub smacked. I don't recall what the shooter said the issue was, but he was making adjustments of some degree then clearly "zeroed" the rifle. These guys are excellent marksmen.

I gotta get me some of them. I picked up
A Mosin and plan on finding a scope for it to set it up like a ww2 sniper rifle then shooting it as a cheap long distance gun.

I'm going to try and make at least one of these shoots this year. Did a couple when they were held at Borden a few years back. An excellent opportunity to shoot at longer ranges then some clubs offer- 100 only at my club. Plus it's an opportunity to shoot on a military range at military type targets which many civilians don't have access to. (I'm assuming Winona is a DND range) Good bunch of guys at the shoots I attended as well.

Winona is in fact a DND range, as such I'm told restricted rifles are a problem for our ATT's. DND ranges aren't recognized for our "civy" ATT's, so no AR's and such unless you make other arrangements with...?

Gander, would a '60's AR be considered "vintage"? I don't own one, but someone out there might.

Yes! The shoot is a go.

No need anymore for rifles to be vintage. I just bought a new AR-15, so will use this opportunity to sight it in and try it out.

I have seen SVT-40s, on the range, flanked by SKS, Mossy Maggots, Garand and Lee Enfield.

Entry for ORA members is $20. $40 for non-members. Fine wine as prizes (Limit of one per winner.)

See you there at 7:30

i am trying to copy this good idea here in northern new brunsick area --------there is interest, and any new brunswick gunnutz MESSAGE ME --------if we get our version of this off the ground ill message all who show interest.
from don in bathurst nb.

??? Gander, I owe you $20! Last year I shot for free:redface:. I just showed up and started shooting with you guys lol! (I am an ORA member via range membership)

To those without optics...don't worry about it, try it. The guns and irons were designed to shoot out to and well beyond 300 meters. (though @ 300m the front blade sight can totally obscure a figure 11! No kidding.)
