Made a big mistake this past weekend: went to a gun show with too little money! Don't we all?
Friend got a neat set of German binos, with case, lovely condition, and we are looking for information regarding the binos themselves, the unit they are marked to, and possible value.
The binos themselves are marked as made by C.P. Goerz, Berlin and the model evidently is DF '03. They are marked "Trieder Binocle" on one tube and the other tubs is marked D.F. 03 & Fach, with "U.F. Nr. 12629 and Dienstglas" in a box approximating the manufacturer's logo.
There is a serial number as well: 287755
In addition, they are marked "K" scratched into one leg, likely an initial from the former user.
As well, they are unit marked to 11R9, which should be 11th Infantry Regiment, 9th Company, Imperial German forces. This marking is painted on the binos and stamped carefully into the case.
I will have a couple of photos next week, if I can figure out how to get them up.
Any help out there? Please!
