Here's two favourites from the old days that will be going for a walk this fall. An FN built Browning patent of 1900 autoloader in 9mm Browning(.35 Remington) in really good shape. Has a solid rib and double flip up rear sight(narrow or wide notch), nice European walnut, excellent bore. Fit and finish are noticeably superior to Remington built offerings of the same design.
Second is a Winchester 1895 in .35 Winchester with Redfield 102-D aperture sight. To me it screams moose gun for woods hunting.

Any cabinet would be proud to call themselves home to a fine pair of rifles like those two beauties. I have to admit to being a wee bit envious.

Wow not too many FN,s made it to Canada and believe only 4000 were made. I have a Remington in the same caliber but not called the model 8 and then 81 later. Mine dates 1907 and works perfectly. Browning perfection.

Nice, original FN Mike - they aren't common and you are justified in being proud of it!
Not too many around, with only 4913 ever made.
I have 6 of them and try to hunt with one every year as well.
Have you offered the serial number to Cam Woodall for his database?

I have one of the Remingtons in 32 Rem. And an 1895 in 405 Win (original). Both are fun guns. - dan

No, only 4913 made from 1910-1929 when officially discontinued at FN. Remington version was produced starting 1906, I think and not called the model 8 til a couple years later. They are pretty reliable. Trying to find a 35 rem. stripper clip for mine, hen's teeth. The 25,30 and 32 rem strippers will not work with the 35 remington has to be 35 or 300 Savage. I read somewhere that originally the rifles were supplied with three strippers and one could load the magazine then have three clips full to stick in the pocket.

John Browning sold his patent to FN for European production in 1900 both for the rifle and the A5 shotgun. Production began right away for the A5 at FN but the autoloader rifle didn't start production til 1910. At any rate FN wasn't permitted to sell the rifle in the US due to the fact that Browning sold Remington the rights to produce the auto rifle there. Mine is serial under 1000 so guessing pre WW1 made as production ceased at FN from 1914- 1918 due to the Great Unpleasantness.

Two very desirable vintage rifles in excellent shape. The Browning is in the unicorn class, almost impossible to find. Congratulations on owning two fine examples of old school workmanship.
