Well I wen to the ranve yesterday and brought my 2 last purchase from sfrc. Il start with the bad and end with the good .

Just an advisory I am more of a scope guy and I am really not proficient with irons.

First of the mosin. Well no vasily rifle;

Inspection: the stock is in really ruff shape the reciver, bolt and bore seem fine. The barrel to but there is rust damage between the stock and barrel.

Range: well the front site is mouve to the left but it seem it would need to be moove even further left as iwas not able to hit anything at 100 yard. I notice after 10 round that the rear sites was jumping, after 2-3 rounds it went from 100 yard to 200-400 yard. Plus the rear barrel ban comes loose after 2-3 rounds and the top handgard walks forward. ...

The great svt;

Well not much to say on inspection, the rifle look great its in preaty good shape , the only and its minor, the only thing is a square stock patch on the butt, but I am quite please with the loom of the rifle. On a side note the front site is also adjusted to the left...

The range: well it didn't start out super as I forgot to brings tools to adjust the gas system. But it needed no adjustments the rifle shooted beautifully; also to those who say they kick like a mule well :s don't shoot 300 win mag... I shot my first 5 round at a 6"wide by 10" high steel plate and to my surprise 3 out of 5 hit. To my surprise as those were 5 fast lasy shot by a guy who suck with irons :p . So I decided to put five on paper, to sum this grooping sucks but to me that sucks with irons for my fift round true tent round true a gun shot preaty fast, I am really happy with this. I am pretty shure if I'd would have taken my time I could off cut that grooping in 2!

Now I regret ordering a second mosin, as I much more enjoy the svt, I should have ordered a seco d svt :/...

Happy shooting

The Moisin ya got seems to be the norm lately. About a year ago there were some really nice ones around for a good price.We seem to be getting the bottom of the pile ones now tho.Just scored one from the Canadian Tire in Ormocto N.B. for $149.00.The stock was beat to hell but the metal is very good all #s match and bore is like new.It is a 1942 Tula.It should be not too much grief to re do the stock.

Thank you for the info, so I'm guessing it was swap in the refurbishing?

There is no doubt about that whatsoever. :)

The little cut out for the safety ( on your rifle )is on both sides of the trigger guard, yet your safety only goes from the left to the center. On a full auto it would be able to be moved all the way to the full auto position on the right.

Is it just me or are most of the recent mosins seem to have war time stocks( no thumb grove to take the rear barrel band off, and no steel insert in the rear sling hole and quite beat up)
