double rifles

i have been looking at the double rifles. i see they come in box lock and side lock, anyone know what the differences are?

On a sidelock the locks are actually attached to the side plates. In a boxlock the locks are inside the frame. The advantage used to be that you could hand detach the locks on a sidelock and clean or replace parts should the rifle go down during a lengthy safari in the bush. Sidekicks are a throwback to the hammer gun days. Nowadays they give engravers more room for their trade.
