There are a lot of knowledgeable trapshooters on this forum so I would like to ask a question on a new doubles gun as mine is "being repaired" and I am on my backup 's backup. If you had a choice to buy new what would you go to.Budget is 4 figures so Top of the line Perazzi and over the top Silver Seitz are out but Beretta ,Browning ,Rizzini ,Tristar,Kriegoff ,Kolar, what are your Opinions thanks RD

All of the guns you mention will work just fine although I personally wouldn't put the Tristar in the same league as the others and I'm not sure that Silver Seitz even makes a doubles gun. Beretta and Browning probably offer the best bang for buck but if you can find a new Kolar or Krieghoff for 4 figures then you'd best grab it because it's a steal of a deal!
Your doubles gun can be any make of reliable doubles gun you want but in my opinion it's best if the first barrel shoots to the same point of impact as your singles gun so that point of aim is the same. Some shooters prefer to use their doubles gun for singles for that very reason, nothing changes.

I don't think it matters what make of gun you shoot for doubles. Probably the same make as whatever you shoot singles with. I would think a sporting clay gun would be better for a dedictated doubles gun than a full on trap gun. The second clay is a flat, almost descending target and that's the hardest one to hit. I have my MX8 set pretty flat for doubles. Sometimes the first clay gets away but its easier to hit the second. Not that my doubles average is anything to brag about.
