Well I have never considered myself as a good doubles shooter and am a solid "C" shooter with an 84 average, seems as every year passes I get a bit slower, a few years ago I shot a few pretty good scores for me in the low 90's and my best score to date has been 93.

This weekend at a small shoot we had wind and crappy weather Fri and Sat, and we got rained out Saturday evening for our doubles, the wind was gusting to 70km and the rain was starting so we called it a day. Started early Sunday morning to shoot our 100 from Sat then another 100 for the Sunday program. 1st 100 I broke 84 so was right on my average, when we started the 2nd 100 things just felt smooth and my timing seemed bang on went 47 nice, very happy, 2nd bank dropped 1 for a 49 WOW who is this guy what did you do with Ed 🤣 a 96 now I have a new target to shoot for.

Just for the record I shoot a CG summit trap for double's 30" pipes and shoot the top barrel first as it patterns a bit higher than the bottom barrel, anyway I choke them LM and LF and shoot 1 oz #8 @ 1180 1st and 1 oz 7 1/2 @ 1200 2nd seems to work.

My pb in doubles to date was at a registered shoot at the Rockcut Shooting Club in Powassan, Ont in the early 2000's. They were having two doubles events back to back. I broke 99x100 in the first dropping target # 98...50x50 then 49x50 then in the second event I shot a 93x100 (46/50 & 47/50) putting up a 192x200 for the day. I was shooting a brand new Citori XT w/30" pipes. Had the bottom bbl set for first shot with an IC choke and the top bbl I had an IM choke, both the factory supplied flush mount chokes.
Was shooting those cheap Federal 100 packs of 2 3/4 dram 1 1/8oz # 8's we used to buy at Wal-Mart for $12.99/100. Wish we were still buying ammo at those prices!

Nice job on the doubles, still chasing my first 25 straight. best is still 24 , seen on eBay a "24 Almost straight" patch. might have to pick one up :sneaky: and do i miss the days of cheap shot shells and having powder available.

Shot a 99 with new fed paper light 7.5s for 20 dollars a box this year and enjoyed every one of them. But also shot a 100 with my reloads but it wasn’t the same. Less expensive mind you.
