Okay, I must thank everyone who has helped me up to this point, and I want to let you all know i appreciate every bit of advice u've given me.

Now, for those of you who haven't read, I am purchasing a new Savage Mk II .22LR, and will be using it soley as a target rifle from 50 yards out to 150 yards.

I have reduced the optics choice down to three, and would love to hear what one you guys would recommend out of these three:

1) Bushnell Banner > 6-18x50mm Matte w/AO for $167.95
**This should be a good little scope with enough power at18 for 150yards, and very bright with the 50mm's

2) Bushnell Banner > 6-24x40 Matte, Mil Dot for $173.50
**This has more power, but might be a little dark with only 40mm's AND I am unsure if it has an Adjustable Objective .. if not, then it must be removed from the list..

3) Mueller APV > 4.5-14x40 Matte Black for $208.99
**I have been told that this little scope is of far better quality then either of the banners above, but will the quality offset its relatively small 14 power?**

Okay, there you have it .. my three scope choices .. for various reasons (one being cost, the other being availablility) I have not been able to find any other scopes that will do what I need it to do.

I'm personally leaning towards the banner 6-18x50mm for its brightness, but I look forward to all of your comments..

go for the mildot you will like the quick aim off and probley not have to make adjustments to your elevation for different ranges

150 yd precision rimfire? None of the above. You are going to be wanting more power than the above choices...trust me. In a "budget" scope look at the Tasco 8-32X...far better choice.

An 18-24 power will allow you to hit the target at 150....but the 32 will let you aim for the bull. Also, it's nice to be able to see your hits without having to use a spotting scope.

I can easily see the 22 calibre holes in plain white paper at 200 yards with the Mueller APV at 14x. Does anyone you know have any of these scopes so you could try them out at the range and see how you like them? Where are you located?

no problem seeing 22 cal holes at two hundred hards with 18 and 24 power scopes, we even spotted for a fellow in the last five hundred yard match. granted they are a bit hard to spot when in the black on the target at two hundred in low light. 40mm objective is more than enough the field of view is more important for faster target accuasition imho. My savage wheres a simmons 6-18x40 and it is enough scope for what you need at those distances. I have seen so many bushnells crap out lately that even I am having second thoughts on any of there scopes. But out of the three you have listed I would go for the 6-24 mildot. that 40mm objective for shooting on the range is all you need and you may find yourself honestly running it on 14-18 power most of the time but the extra magnification is nice when you need it.

At 24x I can aim for the center of a 3/4" circle at 150m. Only problem I have is the "shakes". The A/O is needed,as is the 18x. Go for the Bushnell6x24x40 if it has the A/O if not the 6x18x50 sounds great

honestly guys .. dispite your recommendations, I think i'm gonna go with the 6-18x50mm ... I spoke to a guy who actually HAD all three of those scopes .. he told me out of those three, he sold his 6-24x banner, and kept the meuller and 6-18x banner ... he also said out of those two, he likes his 6-18 banner slightly better due to it having slightly better power and slightly better brightness ...

I think my mind is made up .. if you all agree the 18x's power will work for what I want (100-150yard target practise only), then I think the decision has been made..

thanks again guys .. I look to you all for information when I haven't a clue :pirate:
