I've gotten some Enfield buttstocks in today, and one of the stocks is marked DP which as I understand means for Drill Purpose.
Lots of rifles were stamped this way for various reasons, one being that the rifle is no longer safe to use.
The buttstock appears to be in fine condition, with no major damage other than a broken chunk at the top of the buttstock where it was patched.
Would it be safe to use this buttstock, and assume it's fine (no cracks, etc)? This is just the buttstock I am referring to. The rifle I will be putting it on, has been checked out, shoots fine, etc.
