DPMS 308 steel mags

Perhaps the best and more fair thing to do is to contact Questar first and see whether they stand behind their service and replace or fix the mags. Give the supplier a chance to prove whether he's willing to fix what's not right.

Why do we feel the need to immediately complain to anyone who will listen instead of trying to rectify the issue.
Mark is a standup guy and will make it right.
 
Let's state some facts that may shed some light on this POST...

  • I did not deal with this issue but Scott did and here is what transpired
  • Customer bought 3 mags
  • 10 months after purchasing the magazines he inquires "who is responsible for the pinning of the magazines"
  • He then indicates that he's having feeding issues with 2 of the 3 magazines
  • He brings the 2 magazines to our office
  • Instead of showing us 2 magazines with a "problem" what he now has are a bunch of parts because he took everything apart, including removing the welded plates from the magazine bodies
  • Contrary to what was suggested above, his explanation is not that the welded bars popped off, but rather, he didn't like the look of how the plate was welded and was concerned that some of the weld splatter might get loose and get past the follower and get into the rifle chamber, so he intentionally removed the welds and plate, ground down the welded areas, etc.
  • As a result of his actions (turning the magazine bodies back into 20 round capacity mags) these two magazine bodies are now considered Prohibited Devices, which we can't even legally touch without committing an offence
  • When asked by us what he would like us to do his response was "I just wanted you to be aware of the situation"

It is unfortunate that the customer waited 10 months to let us know he thought there was an issue with the magazines... even more unfortuanate that he decided to take the magazines apart and modify them before ever contacting us. Once he chose to do that he made it impossible for us to determine if there was in fact a problem with the magazines... or if they were in fact the source of his problem... to repair them or exchange them.

When people decide to "fix things themselves" they assume the liability for their actions and pretty much void any warranty that may exist with a product. We have sold 100's of DPMS 308 magazines... all of them have been "welded" to 5 rounds in pretty much the same fashion and by the same source. I'm not saying that there couldn't have been a defective magazine or two in all of the ones we've sold... but waiting 10 months to bring back items that the customer took apart and modified is not the route to take... not if you want warranty repairs.

Heck... I'd even consider fixing them under warranty but I can't touch them once they've been intentionally turned into Prohibited Devices.

If we failed to meet your expectations then I am sorry but you sort of tied our hands as a result of your own actions.

I've done a fair bit of business with Mark and Questar.

I have no problems at all believing their side of this issue. The length of time and you doing 'anything' to the mags makes it impossible for them to know what the condition was when they were shipped out.

Next time just get the Magpul LR20's, they're cheaper and better.
 
After reading this post if you had any issues constact the supplier to try and resolve them. When you bought the mag from them you should have visully inspected them before use. Anytime when I buy new parts or used visully inspect them before use after all it a safety issue.
I personally have never bought from them before and will one day. From what I have read online they are great to deal with. Anyways that my 2 cents worth
