Dpms ar15

I've had mine for about 6 mos. 300-400 rounds (Norinco, UMC and MFS) downrange without any problems. You do know that that every AR ends up north of $1700 by the time you're done ? :)

I presume you're talking about the DPMS Oracle? I've had one for 3 months now, used it quite a bit, no issues. Only thing I will prolly replace is the handguard for something with rails to mount a fore grip. Other than that - maybe 800 rounds of winchester, UMC and my hand loads thru it no issues. LAR mags no problems, either.

I have a DPMS 16'' upper (556), sitting on a Norc lower. Its a great AR and have great groups out to three hundred. Perfect for cqb also.
Love my set up.

I'm in the same boat as you... I really want to know a lil more about the Oracle. Reviews I've read have been mixed. It would be nice to hear from more people that have experience with these firearms. Is it worth the buy? Or is better to save the pennies and get something else?

I have an original M4 DPMS from around 2000, no issues at all, good basic AR. The only knock on them back then was they didn't use chrome lined barrels...big whoop lol

OK, quick update - I've had mine for over a year now. Added a hand guard and fore grip easy as pie. Scoped it with a Leupold VX-2 2-7. For the price it's a good piece of American made kit. I often take it out with my CZ858 and compare them to one another. The DPMS is head and shoulders a better gun and much more accurate than the CZ (for roughly the same price originally.) The CZ has been one pain in the ass after another. The DPMS had just run, period. Prolly have about 2,000 + rounds through it and the only failures have been my reloads not chambering properly. They've been on sale recently for a killer price and I was very close to buying another one, jus because the deal was so good. Yes, there are better built guns out there and lots of them, but they cost a fair bit to a lot more. For the price point, the Oracle is a really good buy IMHO.

Face it, the AR platform is long since proven itself. If the parts are to spec, they will all shoot. You will not do any kind of a build for that price. If you want something that you aren't going to be swapping a lot of parts, go for it. If you are going to end up changing everything but the sling swivels, or want a tack driver, then you may be cheaper to build from scratch
