So whats this about DPMS and Armalite Uppers and odd cuts to the receivers?
"This is only for .308 AR's.
There are two basic "patterns" out there that .308 AR's follow. DPMS and Armalite. DPMS looks just like a big scaled up AR15. Armalite at the buffer tower area has a straight cut rather than a rounded cut. An Armalite upper will fit on a DPMS lower (but not function), but a DPMS upper WILL NOT fit on an Armalite lower.
There are some even more confusing options out there like LMT .308's follow the Armalite pattern, but accept DPMS magazines. LWRC's LOOK like Armalite patterns, but are totally incompatible with either Armalite or DPMS uppers, but still accept DPMS magazines. KAC also uses DPMS mags with an Armalite style pattern. CMMG makes a DPMS pattern lower that uses HK G3 mags which requires modifications to a DPMS upper.
This all only pertains to .308-based AR's and has NOTHING to do with standard 5.56-based "AR-15's". AR-15's are standardized based on the military's adoption of the M16/M4 platform and are pretty much universally compatible. Armalite and DPMS "AR-15" parts are interchangeable."
