While doing some research on a Modern Sporter build, I cam across this barrel. Has anyone seen or used this barrel before. did a search here with no results.
Quite extraordinary that it doesn't heat up like a typically barrel. Jump to 2:01 to see what I'm talking about.

It seems like magic. Black magic. Either that or snake oil but some folks down south are using them and say they're doing the job. If it actually works it could be the pinnacle of rifle barrel technology. A heat-conductive composite instead of carbon fiber is a good idea, in theory.

If the chamber/bore was lined with some kind of ceramic it could prevent heat from transferring to the barrel. I built a forge a few decades ago, as I recall the inside was just hot enough to forge steel at the lower end, but still plenty hot. The outside was pretty cool, don't recall if you could touch it, but never had any problems dealing with it after due to the outside being hot. That was just a thin layer of Refractory wool/cement. Modern coatings should be able to let most of the heat go out the muzzle, just no idea how the rifling will do over time, durability of the bore is probably why this hasn't been done before. I'd be curious to see how much hotter the brass is...
