Dragunov

Sorry dear Galil man , I'm not into games and I don't pick up junk!!!!!

Your loss...what has been demonstrated is that you don't speak from personal experience but rather what you no doubt have read somewhere. I'd be dubious of banking on second hand knowledge.

Regardless, my sympathies your way for your lack of first hand experience and "hands on" knowledge...I'm sure it will come in time.

I had tried a Romanian one back in the late 80's. I was very impressed by it back then. It's not a bad rifle at all. Would I own one? yes in a heart beat but at the right price :)

Romanian 'Dragunov' is a stamped receiver, i.e. an RPK clone in 54R IIRC, i.e. not a Dragunov at all, other than if you were just looking at the peculiar buttstock.

We were talking about SVD, i.e. milled receiver, above. And even with that milled receiver it was still incapable of shooting straight. I submit, that largely due to Russian fascination with side mounted scopes and disdain for precision and quality materials.

Is it capable of being use on battlefield for mid range reach? Of course! Does it belong in precision rifles? No.

Less talk........more pics!!!

I tried out this one on OP Opollo and fell instantly in love.
"I" don't think they are junk. "I" think they shoot just fine and "I" think as usual there are way too many people just putting their thoughts down on these threads.

I'm still pumped they are prohib. Are they the best rifles out there??? Probably not, but I'd grab one in a second if I could.

Enjoy the pic, and excuse the funny look on my face. I'd just lost 30 pounds cause of hard rations and it was fooking hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They play the same role as M14 in US army. They are quite accurate, but civil market gets altered rifles with crappy accuracy... at minimum they have to be pinned and don't trust the stories that someone has original Dragunov from army... just no way! At the best you can get is a rework with some parts that makes it look original. That's why they call it "Tiger" -1 or -2 and not "Dragunov" -1 or -2.

While not the most accurate or consistent "DMR", I would still love to have one for my collection................

As far as it being in the Precision Rifle Forum, it is more then welcome here as it was the Russian issue "Sniper/DMR" platform, and is not classed as a Battle Rifle.......................it is no different then the M21/M25 or the current M14 DMR........................

SKBY.

Actually, you ARE mistaken...I have an original unissued. NOT a rework, NO importer markings. Not a TIGR!

Do your homework, and don't make comment like that unless you are sure.
