I have been loading 50 for 20 plus yrs and my mentor from California showed me the tricks to match 50 ammo
the one thing he stressed was trimming your brass, pressures can rise to dangerous levels fast in the 50, this can cause
a stuck case. You also want to make sure that if you use mil surp brass that was shot from a MG that you FL size
it and also if you use pulled bullets size them with CH's bullet sizer I use this on all my bullets to make them uniform
and omit flyers. In fact I do this on most my reg cal bullets for match shooting, and CH will make any size
the more consistent the size of bullets the closer the group, and most of all Never shoot Dominican Republic 50 bmg ammo
it was ban by the 50 cal shooters association in the 80s , the reason was poor quality control the bullet steel core was
loose in the jacket, and guys were having there muzzle brakes depart from the gun after it left the bbl. the bad ones are the yellow tip
and you can get the marking off the net.
and also make sure you weigh each bullet, do not take for cash value that each bullet is the same, my buddy in California would
weigh every round and put them in lots and load accordingly and get nice grouping.
Should you have a stuck case, here is a tip that can save money,,, if you have a large deep freeze you can put the action in it. Brass contracts in cold temp and
most likely will come out, most guys do not know this and pay big money to have a smith do what is done in the video. I have had success with rifle cals
in the deep freeze with case that was stuck, it fell out. when the cold did its thing.
just a saying that holds to the brass contracting more in cold temps
ever heard the saying. it is so cold it can freeze the brass balls off a monkey .
well that was a navy term, the monkey was a rack they used made of cast iron to hold at the time brass or bronze cannon balls
and when at sea in cold temps the balls would fall through the monkey that held the balls , hence balls off a monkey. check it out
