Lately I've had a craving. I have a number of really nice hunting rifles. I HAD a couple of nice handguns, and now I have a really nice Kimber 1911.

I think the hole in my toybox could be filled by an AR15, you know, for Zombies...

If I read the recent threads correctly, I likely won't be able to find one of those neat 12 or 14" units, so I guess a 16" is the way I'm leaning.

Browsing the sponsors websites, I see a number of fun looking units by Stag or RRA. The Stag 2R or 2T from ArmsEast, or the RRA CAR A4 with the quad rail from Questar.

Based on KevinB's thorough and much appreciated rundown on optics, I think I'm leaning toward an ACOG.

Your comments, thoughts, further recommendations?

I'll be in the market for an AR shortly ... both Stag and RRA have really great offerings..

what do you think of the RRA AR Pistols? Couldn't you slap a buttstock onto the 10" AR Pistol and have a cool shortie similar to the 12"?

I just used a C7 at work this weekend and then had to clean it. Man does that piss me off. I gotta say they are a decient platform but damn I wish they weren't so damn dirty. Aah well vent over.

I would keep my $ in my pocket and watch the EE, you're gaurenteed to find an AR in the config you want w/low round count if you give it a few weeks.

That looks awesome.. but there seems to be a couple of drawbacks to the short barrel.

Why does it get so much dirtier than the standard size AR?

Where can you score a 14.5" AR? Haven't see any for sale on the sponsor's websites...
