Dream Hunt ?

28 days, plains game in Africa. No interest in the big guys [Elephant, Hippo, Cape Buffalo, Lion, Croc] But there are plenty of Antelope species and Bovids to keep one occupied for a few weeks. Plus a Warthog or two, and definitely Hyena. Regards, Eagleye.

You know what, my wife has been bugging me to go out east, I might have to take a look at that.

The taste don't worry me too much. I aint flying to alaska to eat a few ducks, I have a freezer full of honks still. I just think they are neat looking and I really just want to shoot one of each and have a mount in the house so i can look at them.

Or head to the west coast for the same action. I just moved here from NS and can't find a single sea dukker to go with! I guess I will have to shoot all those uneducated ducks myself next fall.....
An overnight soak in buttermilk will make even a merganser or scoter suitable for the table too.

DREAM HUNTS
Short term- my traditional style wild boar hunt in Hawaii next month. Gonna run them with dogs and Mr. Pig will taste the steel of my knife!!

Big dream- complete collection of dangerous game all taken so they knock dust on my boots when they fall. I think I will start locally with grizz, go north for polar bear, warm up in africa over the big five, then stop in asia for a tiger on the way back home. Did I miss anything?? ;) :D

Even bigger dream- take the old man along on the above trip. Maybe even let him shoot one or two....

Honestly though, even if I'm hunting crows or pigeons the next day I dream about it that night. Hunts may be long, cold, hard or bagless but there is no such thing as a bad hunt.

I'd like to do the full meal deal in New Zealand. Fallow, Red deer, Tahr, Chamois, and a box full of wild goats (they are tasty in a BBQ pit), and top it all off with a couple days of sea-run brown trout. The nights would be occupied with a nice fire and a good single-malt.

I know a girl in Ohio that hunts in Africa all the time, but she is more interested in my moose hunting stories than talking about her African adventures. It is really neat to think that while she hunts in Africa all the time, her dream is to hunt moose in Canada.

My dream hunt has always been Africa.
Cape Buffalo specifically, But Greater Kudu, and Eland hold a pretty strong draw for me too. And for some reason a Thompson's Gazelle... Something about an antelope the size of a coyote, or smaller...

Never really been interested in in Elephant or Rhino, but most of the plains game would be a hoot!

The fact is, a trip to Africa costs less than a good wilderness moose or elk hunt hunt in Canada where you will actually have an opportunity for trophy animals. Alaska is even more expensive. I could go on a 2 week safari for 11 plains game animals for about $1500 more than what it would cost to have the opportunity to hunt a trophy bull in the Mackenzie's. And that is just the difference in flights, the hunt costs the same.

I'd like to go to Namibia, but I really like the animals available in New Zealand.

i wonder if people in Africa dream of hunting in Canada

Yes they do......sheep is very high on the list of many African PHs that I know and a good number of them have already hunted Canada for one species or the other. Canada is a dream desitination for hunters from all over the world.

I was lucky enough to do my dream hunt before I had 3 kids and 2 jobs, so to do it again would be another dream hunt. Here's me on mine in Northern BC for a 10 day fly in hunt out of Smithers.
