I have a Dremel tool I would like to use for chamfering, brushing and possibly cleaning primer pockets, anybody do it? Doing it by hand is ok, but would be cooler to use some speed

What do I need to buy in order for this to work... right now nothing fits the dremel...

Don't use a rotary tool for chamfering. Too easy to go too far. Buy a tumbler for cleaning. RCBS makes a powered 3 way tool for trimming and chamfering. It isn't a universal thing though. You need parts to change calibres. Haven't a clue what it worth. Won't be cheap though.

Pilot24,
A variable speed drill run dead slow works great for chamfering and also for cleaning inside case necks. I often use a stainless brush in my drill for cleaning necks. You can grab a whole handful of cases in one hand and run the drill with the other, I'd say the brush only makes a couple turns in the neck. The drill is barely turning and doesn't eat up the necks.
I have also fitted the drill to my case trimmer when doing large amounts of cases. It speeds things up immeasureably. Once again, turn it real slow.

I use my Variable speed 1/2" Cordless Drill for several jobs.

I use the Lee Primer Pocket cleaner, just clamp onto the knurled area and clean away.
I use the Lee Case Trimmer (Put the base in the drill) and then use the Lee Chamfer Tool while the case is still in the holder from sizing. 1 slowish revolution in the chamfer tool does a nice job.

Well, I tried the cordless drill last night and brushing the inside of the case, wow, what an improvement, took me about 5 min to do 50 cases :D

Now, I didn't find a way to fix the chamfer tool to the drill yet, i'll go look for an adaptor that could work.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

You don't need to fix the chamfer tool the drill, use the lee shellholder base for their trimmer (super cheap) and put the casing in the drill instead. I do this and brush the inside of the neck, trim, debur and chamfer all in one operation.

man, why but whyyyy didn't I ask before... Again, great idea CK, i have to go to buy some primers and powder this week, i'll look for the holder as well!

I just bought the RCBS Trim Mate today. The steps I enjoy the least are chamfering, de-burring and primer pocket cleaning. This new toy should save me a lot of time. For anyone wondering, the rpm's are very low on the machine.

I was looking at one today at WSS but decided I already had enough in my basket. I spent more than I should have today :eek::eek:

Does it come with a Primer pocket cleaner? I couldn't see the whole thing today as it had a dust cover of some sort half draped over it all I could see were the chamfer and debur accesories.

Comes with two steel brushes for the primer pockets and two neck brushes.
The flash hole tool (uniformer), or military crimp remover are not included.

Keep us up to date after you work with it for awhile, might be something I could be easily talked into getting

I won an RCBS Trim-Mate several years ago at a shoot, and after I had it a short while, I wondered how I ever got along without it. A true time-saver! Regards, Eagleye.

Tried it on some new brass today (after trimming). Took me about 10 minutes to do 100 pieces of .45 brass on the trim mate. You can debur and chamfer at the same time. One piece of brass in each hand.

unsing a cordless or electricm drill is what you want! I've tried both and its obvious on result and time that this is what you should use!
