First time reloading 30 30, just doing some plinking rounds for the indoor range. Using Trail Boss and the above bullet. Anyone used this powder, bullet combo for the 30 30? What was your seating depth? How did you find these for plinking? Will be used in a Marlin 30AS. Any advice is much appreciated.

I have not used that combination, so hope it works for you. As new to the game, a couple pointers? If your expected muzzle velocity much above about 1,400 fps or so, you will want to use gas checks, if that bullet allows. Also, have read, and I found, do not want one speck of normal jacket fouling left in bore to shoot lead bullets - want to get the bore perfectly clean if it has been firing jacketed bullets previously.

Ok great thanks. no gas checks, these are for fun at the indoor range and maybe a few grouse in the fall.

The very little bit I know says to keep speed down if not using gas checks - pretty sure below 1,600 fps, but you would need to confirm. I go by .22LR - most of them lead - at about 1,100 to 1,200 fps for High Velocity.
