Just bought a new Rem. 7400 syn. stock off a fellow gunnut and the stock doesn't have any swivel stud.

Is it possible to drill it? Are these stock hollow?
What are my options?

Thanks, Ghunter

No experience with a synthetic 7400 stock, but... Invariably these injection moulded stocks are hollow. If you drill a hole and screw in the stud, make sure that the thing isn't going to pull out under load. Can the buttplate be removed? If so, use a machine screw stud, with a nut on the inside.

Even stronger is a long screw stud and with the butt plate off, build a big ball of epoxy all around the exposed thread inside the stock. If you want to make it removable, coat the metal thread only with paste wax.

Here's a pic from the 7400 with the recoil pad removed.
This is the way to go; by removing the pad now I know that there is enough solid material to screw in the swivel stud securely.
Your help was appreciated.
