Need some info.
If I am drilling the side of a receiver for a scope mount, and none of the holes are going to end up anywhere near the chamber or barrel, do I need to worry about the holes going right through?
This is on a Savage 340a (30-30) and the mounting position is along the travel of the bolt. So when the bolt is closed the screws will be located along the bolt, no where near where they may be high pressure from firing like if they were drilled further forward at the side of the chamber.
Hope I'm explaining this properly.
Yes I am aware of mount screws going far enough in to affect bolt travel, but I think the screws will not be long enough, so as long as the inside of the holes are de-burred, there should be no issue.
Thanks
