Not really too involved of a project, just drilling a Mossberg 702 stock so I can add sling swivels. The thing I'm wondering is, how big a pilot do I need for the threads?

I have some 2 part epoxy (thanks Frontier23!) to put in the threads to lock the screws in, but how tight a tolerance would a guy need? If it was wood, I'd go slightly smaller obviously, to get a good bite into the wood.

Would too small a pilot hole = a crack in cold temperature from stressing the tupperware?? Thanks in advance.

Are you using the wood screw swivels? If so, I'd drill exactly the same size hole as they recommend for wood. I would apply a little lube to the screw and let it cut its own threads. I would not see any need for epoxy.

On a factory Savage plastic stock they don't use a wood type screw on the foreend. They instead use the swivel that comes with a lock nut. That would be my preference for ease of install, but I believe the wood screw type will work fine as long as its not going into a fiberglass stock, but instead a soft plastic that will deform and take threads.
