i have a sks with the tapco intrafuse stock and ive been wondering if it would be ok to do the drop free bolt mod, I've only heard people say good things about but i would like to know all the pros and cons to doing so. thanks any help would be appreciated as i suck at posting forums and google seems to run me around in circles.

It works great.

All you do is grind off the two bottom tabs on the bottom of the bolt.
If you look inside the action; You can see where the magazine feed lips interfere with these tabs when the bolt is forward.

Just grind off the tabs with a dremel, until the magazine feed lips clear them.
Go slowly. If it takes all day, then it takes all day.

It does work great. Although i don't use my detachable magazine (metal one from lever arms) very often. The mod took me about 45-60 mins. i started with a bench grinder, then cleaned it up with the dremel. Then polished it smooth! i dont see any cons my self, but i also have several unmolested sks's.

Hey
I did the bolt mod on both of my sks's
the first non tula works perfectly with five rounds
the second tula model doesn't like five rounds ...meaning bolt closed and I insert mag with five rounds, won't click into place, remove one round clicks and works perfectly...
You may find each sks will be different. so if you have more then one sks you may find the same..or not..
Or you can leave the tapco mags in a bag and pick up the xcr mags and adapter, I hear from a buddy of mine who no longer uses tapco mags and loves the conversion kit.
Glenn.
