So I took my Black Special out today for the first time and banged off about 250 rounds out in the boonies, I have this nice spot that gives us about 600-800yards

After warming up, and maybe 50 rounds, I took the rifle out to about 350 maybe 400 yards, dialed the drum sight to "4" dropped to the middle of the road with the factory bi-pod (I dunno WTF people are talking about when the mention POI shift when using the bi pod, it sure didn't happen to me today at least I didn't notice shooting steel) and fired about 30 rounds at the steel plate (about 13x15inch) I was pleasantly surprised when I scored about 25 hits out of 30. WITH FACTORY IRON SIGHTS:eek: We could barely hear the .223 when it hit the plate at that range. and it took what felt like 2 full seconds for the sound to get back to us

I knew I could have done it with an optic but I was blown away when I scored that many hits at that range with only irons.

Next time I'll post pics of some 400 yard targets, maybe a video too.

That is great!
I did tell you the iron drum sight was good on its' own.
Now just wait until you try the low power optic too.

Mostly I am jealous you have a place to stretch out and ring the range out of that rifle.
I am also pretty jealous that I can't shoot with you.

How rough is the ground there, Is it brutal like the rest of the west coast ?

Thats where i do lots of shooting, i sight in at the gravel pit and long range shoot off that spur...had a nice gong there too but it went missing, from the top of the road to the bottom i ranged it at 600yards, from the end of the road to the top of the cut block ranged at 800 but i haven;t humped a gong up there yet...
