Dry Fire An AR-15???

AFAIK, most modern day centerfires are okay to dry fire....I can't comment specifically on the AR platform though (thought I bet its fine)

Snap caps

Snap caps are $10.00 /pair. ( they have a spring loaded primer ) good for hundreds of dry fires. available in most cal.

ar-15s are bassed off the C7 and m16
there are no springs in the bolt or bolt carrier to be compressed and the trig mech are mostly good qulity spring steel depending on the maker there is also a devider plate between the mag well and hammer that stops the hammer from going too far so you can dri fire a AR but only with the upper on if you need the hammer foward when the upper is off hold the hammer down with your hand and pull the trigger then well holding the trigger let the hammer come to rest on the devider plate slowly to prevent a grove being hammered in to it

As long as the uppper is mated to the lower, you can dry fire to your heart's content with no danger of damage. Do not dry fire if you don't have an upper attached. If you still have hang-ups, buy some snap caps.:)

Dry firing is a great way to learn how and when your trigger breaks without wasting money on munitions and the jump from recoil. Giddyap!

No worries on almost all center fire rifles.

Rim fired bullets are a different animal. It's not harmful to the rifles for a few dry fires but i wouldn't make a habit of it. The pin hits on the rear of the chamber and can work a groove after a while.

Have fun..

I agree with what he said but I will fax $5.00 to the first person who can read the entire sentence without taking a breath.;)
