I was reading alot about dry-lube for the action on a 10/22,so I bought a can.
It says moly dry lube on the can (fine print...molybdenum disulphide lubricant, extra fine).
I was about to spray some into the action where the bolt rides on my 10/22 but I did a test shot onto a piece of newspaper, and it looked like grey spray paint!Just a small shot left alot of product.Doesnt look like the excess will cleanup to easy either.
Did I get the wrong stuff,or should I just blast it on and wipe up the overspray somehow?

Don't use it!
Moly spray makes hard grey clumps that would totally obstruct your action.
You want dry teflon spray, made by remington.
Thats the best lube for semiauto .22s IMO.
Princess auto also sells dry teflon spray, bigger can, less money, just as good.

I use this stuff all the time at work. We use it on anything that is going to see a lot of dust and dirt but needs good lubrication.

It provides excellent lubricaton properties and does not pick up dirt and crud like oils do. I like it as it does not wear off easy.

It's also used as a coating on bullets to help eliminate copper fouling.

I would imagine it would work in a 10/22 action. Just put a thin coat on all wearing surfaces.

Molybdenum Di Sulphide is an excellent anti-seize, was never meant as a lube.It is used to coat bores and bullets, but won't work in your rifle actions.
Cheers nessy.

That remminton Dry-lube makes a hell of a mess!!It didnt really lubricate all that great,so i ditched the can after a couple uses.Hoppe's gun oil still seems to be the best for my guns.

I don't use anything on my 10/22.

I used dri lube for a while and found the same thing as ronin.

After that I lightly oil the bolt and then wipe it off with a clean rag.

I've put through about 6000+ rounds (12 bricks of minimags + some misc boxes) through it this year without failure. In fact I have had less failures without oil than with.

Kinda funny,Ive been doing the light oiling andwipe off on my semi's for,oh,about 30 years.
After finding this and other forums I started to think I better get with the times and try somthing new.
Looks like I'll be keepin it simple and not changing my ways tho.
Maybe I should buy some bullets with the money Im savin.
thanx guys.
