Hi Guys,

Waiting on landing another contract so I can spend more on "sniper" Rifles Laugh2 .

Question: Planning to get a Desert Tactical SRS this time, have seen one in .308 and although looking at the point of view of Ammo ( which I have LOTS of since my 10FCP is also the same), a 308 is more pocket friendly but if I'm buying a 6k+ rifle, that really isn't the issue. Which one would you prefer and why?

Question2: How does a DTA SRS compare to Accuracy International's AX.338 LM in Terms of reliability, accuracy and overall value for the money? This one : http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/4004/Accuracy-International-AX-338-Lapua-Magnum-27-Black-Rifle.aspx

I can’t speak about either the DTA or AI, but I want to be a sniper too, I am looking at the DTR is .300WM, maybe where are you going to get it? I am thinking of bringing it in from the US, I will PM you what they want, I called around in Canada but the MSPR on the internet was not what I was quote (MSRP +1K)

Have you thought about a PGW rifle?

I have the entire collection, Coyote, T-Wolf & LRT-3.

They are awesome & shoot great too! I want a larger rifle that is light enough to take into the bush with me; I refuse to lug the T-Wolf around in the bush for a moose! So I think the DTR will do the trick.

For paper, I would have to say .308.

Will probably see more trigger time that way, and may be easier to re-sell in the future in that caliber.

If you plan to shoot it on a range, I would want to make sure the range safety template will allow .338 LM. When it comes to feeding time, in a pinch you can get a box of .308 at Wal-Mart, .338 not so much. If reloading, check out the price of componets for both.

On any given day there is 4-5 .338 LM for sale on the EE. Most of them have a very low round count for a reason.

I shoot 1000 rounds + a year of .338, i'd shoot more if I had more time. I reload for around 1-1.45 a trigger squeeze (338LM). I'd get a .338LM if you can actually shoot it at distance, if you hang around the local gun range and shoot less than 300m, get a .308 there is NO comparison between the two if you can get out past the 1k mark.

Anybody that argues that is a liar!

I've heard good things about PGW, but already got a Savage with a 2k+ mark. Going for something more military style, hence the fancy SRS or AX ( would go for AX50 if I could :D ). DO let me know what you get for the SRS since here it's being sold as a kit and for 6200$CAD + HST. That's what turns me off.

But thanks for the input guys.

MattMoser, as an aside; Where you did you get your pricing from?

Our DTA SRS .308WIN Deployment Kit comes out to about $6100USD if you piece it together on their website. We sell it for $6499.
