Hi All. A new guy here. Not to rifles etc. But new to the site.

I won a Ducks Unlimited 75 anniversary Browning Maxus. Comes with a sharp case, lock, chokes etc. I am recieving varied opinions on its value.

I would like to let it go to a collector who would have more interest for it than I, and replace it.
Anyone have an opinion?

Don't know what prices you were told but in many cases the DU gun is worth no more than the same gun without the DU embellishments. Often, most people will actually pay less for a DU gun than for a same condition gun without the DU adornements.

Interesting.
I would be curious to know if the buyer would shoot it or collect it. I would have to excersise some patience to see something like that I bet.
Thank you.

Selling prices though for anything at charity auctions often go for way higher than what normal prices would be and are not true market value. People bid high because it is a fund raiser, especially if they have a few drinks into them.

Yep agree 100%. I had 14 or 15 of these what I thought would be collectors DU guns all in the box and never fired, some were stashed as far back as the 70's and was lucky to break even on them when I sold them in the past 5 years. Only one the DU super x-1 was worth saving and seen as a true collector from what I got for mine.
Have three left a remington 1100 12 and 20ga semi and a 870 20ga pump. Two are identical to the ones prophet river has for sale on consignment which it seems for a very long time.
Shoot and enjoy them I say now since I learned the hard way they are not seen as true collectables and worth saving.

There is a reason cocktails are served for two hours at DU events before the auctions begin!! ;)

If DU had kept numbers very low on select firearms it would be a different story but the idea is to be able to send a few to every chapter nationwide and get $$ coming in for conservation projects, studies etc.

Just brought a brand new Maxus in duck blind camo for $1124.. as noted many (myself included) wouldn't pay more for a DU model.

I'd say throw it in the EE for $1400 OBO and you'd get a few bites...

Retail value on a maxus is $1.200.- $ 1.300 depending on configuration so any money paid above that is a donation to du no recoupable also now it is classified as a used gun so in reality it is worth 20-30% less than retail
