Anyone else tried this? I remember Koldt had his set up like this some time ago.

The Eotech reticle is nice and sharp and allows you to use one, the other or both at once. Only problem is I'd like to raise the Eotech about 1/4" or so.

Done it and seen it done, this is universally regarded by those who "do this for a living" as a BAD Idea,...I will let them takeover from here...Gerry, Mark, Kevin and Deano...take it away:cool:

If you want a multi purpose optic

Buy a S&B Short Dot

Failing that a TA01NSN ACOG with Dr Optic replacing the iron back up ring (and drift off the tritium front)

after that a TA31/TA11 BAC ACOG.

After that a x3 multiplier for the Aimpoint/EoTech.

All you have done is add weight and make a busy reticle

What do you guys think of the Docter optic by it self as the primary red dot sight on a AR15 or even a Shorty CQB.

The dot brightness auto-adjusts to ambient light near the sight, not the brightness of the target (unlike, say, the Zeiss Z-Point). If you're shooting from a dark area (like a covered range building) to a light target (like a brightly-lit piece of white paper), the dot will be too dim. JP Enterprises claims they up the dot brightness on the JPoints partly to overcome this.

I've seen it done by a member of the cavalry arms shooting team once. He had the second reflex sight or some such on an angle so he would have to tilt the rifle to see through it. It looked pretty goofy and impractical.

Not impractical at all. If your going in CQB then all you have to do is cant your rifle and you got a reflex sight.

This is full Gamer stuff...and we all know how I feel about "practical" shooting...

DITTO

Can you imagine having to rotate the weapon out of position in a dynamic enviroment?

that sort of #### is designed for someones wet dream not combat utility.

I'm not a guru of black gun optics but I did see the 1 or 4 power Elcan at SHOT. I thought it was damn neat, flick a lever on the side to go from one to 4. Had an ACOG ish graduated reticle with a bright red aimpoint dot that can be turned off. It didn't flop around like an Elcan and you don't use the cam for distance, only zeroing.

Yeah it looks pretty slick but I hear it's like one million dollars:eek:
