I have a boat that I’m going to set up for duck hunting. I just replaced the gun boot on my ATV. I had been looking at different options to hold shotguns in the boat but now I’m wondering if I should mount my old gun boot bracket to one of the seats and keep the gun boot in the boat?

Thoughts?

If you're going to run a hide over the boat be careful of the angles in which you need to draw the gun from the boot
I've always found just a regular hard case works great. Easy to move encased from the truck to the boat and so forth. The case protects the gun from dings and dents and dogs crawling on it.
Now that I hunt primarily from a kayak I use a sock to meet legal requirements and save on bulk

Forget the boot idea, it will be too high and annoyingly placed when handling gear and decoys. Just case your gun and place it to the side... one of my duck boats has a shotgun/shell tray on either side. My big water boat has plenty of room for propping the shotguns or, I lay them over the blind frame in a "ready to shoot" position.

I don't have a picture of my big water boat with the blind up, but you get the idea...

Open cradle beside/forward grip position of the seat. Rubber straps for when your moving. Safety dictates outboard, barrel forward in bow and rearward in stern.
Boom bird down.

I think am a going to scrap the idea.
I do want to clarify though that the boot idea was for while travelling only. Wasn’t planning on trying to pull it in and out of there while hunting. A few replies gave me the feel that’s what they thought I meant.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

This was kind of what I had looked at previous to ending up with a spare boot.
