Hey Guys;

Got into some bad weather in my flat bottom jon boat, a 1440M Lowe with a 9.9hp Honda short shaft. It gave us a good scare & as a result, I am 'on the hunt' for a boat that is a little bigger & can handle some weather...

Right off the bat, I can think of some things I want in the new boat...

--> A spot for the dog to sit, maybe on the front? Easy in/out for the dog retrieving, and I do have a dog ladder...

--> More HORSEPOWER! Brand of motor is not important, so much as ease of maintenance & reliability. At this point, I am thinking an electric start for sure!

--> A spot for two adult men to sit & shoot from, and a console to drive the boat from rather than a tiller arm to steer?

--> A CAMO BOAT so that less work is needed to hide the boat when hunting. Camo engine as well?

That's all I can think of at the moment, let me know what you guys use & what direction I should go... Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Jay

Lund SSV 16 with a 30-40hp tiller. Skip the console in a duck boat, they just get in the way. If the SSV can't take you through it, you probably shouldn't be out in it. The lund can also be had in a factory duck#### green camo. I had one, was a great boat and my buddy owns it now!

I wouldn't worry about camo motor, just buy a camo outboard cover, Avery makes a nice one. If you're doing big deep waters that get rough then check out the Lund Alaskan! It is available in either side console or tiller in 16, 18 and 20 ft lengths and is available in a complete camo package with matching high back camo seats and extra pedestal locations to shoot, fish and travel from. Thats my next boat!!

I have a war eagle 15/56 with a 50 hp Honda 4 stroke tiller. I like it but it will not take the waves a Lund Alaskan will. Good flat front deck for dog and an open centre for mobility/ gear/ decoys. I agree no console unless you are going 20 feet+. Just not enough room for decoys/shooting positions. Long shaft is better I like picking up decoys in reverse. If you want to see/drive one I am just south of town, pm me.
