Duck survives two days in fridge

A duck in the US state of Florida has survived gunshot wounds and a two-day stint in a refrigerator.

A hunter shot the duck, wounding it in the wing and leg. Believing the bird was dead, he left it in his fridge at his home in Tallahassee.

The hunter's wife got a fright when she opened the fridge and the duck lifted its head, a local veterinarian said.

Staff at the Goose Creek Animal Sanctuary who are treating the bird said it has a 75% chance of survival.

The plucky duck was taken first to a local animal hospital, and then to an animal sanctuary for more specialised treatment.

A veterinarian at the sanctuary said he thinks the duck will live, but will probably never be well enough to be released into the wild.

The veterinarian, David Hale, said the duck's low metabolism rate helped it survive its time in the refrigerator, the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper reported.

"This is an extremely tough duck with a lot of spirit to live," he said. "This shows how tough and adaptable wildlife are".

I hope the guys wife kicked his ass. Why would you leave a duck with all its feathers sitting in your fridge. I also hope the duck had some sort of parisite and #### on all of his food.

I say all of this because that duck sufferd for 2 days at 4'C, and now they decide to let it live, being crippled and not being able to go back to the wild. Guys a complete idiot, suspend his licence and take away all his guns, he shouldnt be trusted with matches either.

What's very sad about the whole thing that no one has mentioned, is that while the duck was in the fridge he drank 5 budweiser and as soon as his treatment for wounds are over, is expected to have a lengthy stint in rehab:D :D :D :D :D

I keep picturing that damn AFLACK (or whatever it is) duck, prancing out of his fridge. I HATE THAT AFLACK DUCK !!!!!

I would like to slap that fella with a wet shell bag  How would you not know the duck was alive:)

Alas, the answer to your question lies within:

A hunter shot the duck, wounding it in the wing and leg. Believing the bird was dead, he left it in his fridge at his home in Tallahassee

I'm at a loss for words.

Which is better i suppose than being at a loss for brains, which is clearly the case when someone leaves a duck alive in their fridge for 2 days un-plucked and ungutted.

Our ducks waddle around outside in -10C.........+4 is like a holiday!!

That's not even a good story. Now, if it HAD cracked open a Bud...........

:D

Peckerwood you beat me to the post. :D

Also IMHO if it survived all this it deserves to live.

The article could also be called the wounding ability of steel shot.
