I am here from out of country for a year or so on business and would like to start loading again, I have all of the equipment back home but I was curious if you need a PAL to even get components for loading in Canada? I have lots of spare time and wanted to eat some of it up doing something I enjoy. I guess if I need a pal I'll just bring my guns up with me too. Also ayone in Ontario Know where to go do the CFSC? Really wouldn't mind getting it anyway.

Welcome, where is home exactly , its always a pleasure to welcome gunnutz from other nations.
As far as loading goes, there are many sport stores that have components.
LeBaron has stores in Ontario, and there are clubs and such scattered about if you decide to just get out and shoot.

Thanks for the welcome

I'm from Utah, used to just going out whenever up in the mountains and plinking, didn't know the laws were so much more strict here, but I think the same thing is happening all over the U.S with gun laws. I'll be here in north York Ontario for as long as Nov 2007. Was wondering if you need the PAL to purchase components and reload?

Welcome to great forgotten north.
NO you do not need a PAL to buy reloading gear or even components in most provinces. ( some have their own provincial rules for powder)
You DO require 1 however to buy a gun,or be in possession of 1. I assume you have been here a short time, pre 2001 you could have had a possession only licence, but the Feds stopped issueing them some time back.
Would not hurt to aquire a PAL anyway, you may decide NOT to go back south , I got used to it here and finally went back home to sell off my US possessions just this year

Been here for almoast a year now, was supposed to be a 6 month deal now it's turned into a 18-24 month ordeal. So it sounds like either way I need a PAL since I'm not in possesion of a firearm in Canada, oh god not another one, I already own like 20 something, just not here, oh well just another for the collection. Even when I'm done in NOV 2006 I might still be coming up on roataion for a few months here and there so I to was thinking of going the PAL route. Dunno if I'm ready to sell off everything I own yet to move here, but it is pretty nice, just miss all the mountains, can never tell where I'm at hehe.

You are aware you can "temporarily" import some of your guns up here, you will need to temporarily register them here, which is a joke, they take your money , but customs can not share the info with the CFC so that is as far as it goes.
You will still need your PAL, because even though the guns are yours already, to stay with them here the Feds will want you to be all law abiding, but the test is simple.
Utah to Ontario , yup thats a change, I went from desert in AZ, to mountains, praire and blue clear sky in Calgary.
Or from plus 85 to minus 20 in 1 day , what a shock!!

I looked into the temp reg thing and it was only good for 60 days or something, thought that was a joke and you had to pay the fee for each firearm, and that is a shock coming from Arizona had the same thing happen this winter going home for x-mas, stopped over in Phoenix before hitting SLC, was quite the diff in temp and definatly the humidity which I still have not aclimated to yet here.
