Ok well Im wondering what is the model of the enfields where the stock goes all the way to the very tip of the barrel. as in there is wood along the whole barrel no metal showing (except on top of course).

I know it's kinda of very general and up in the air but i hope one of uses can decifer what Im getting at. I'll try and find a picture.

Thanks
Kyle.

I mean a decent shooter thats not like rotting away or anything. Not looking for a museum piece here just a well functioning one. so somewhere in between rotting away and in 'good" condition is what OK condition is. (to me anyway)

I don't track "values" much but knowning how many are out there in the back of people's closets and barns... I wouldn't pay a dollar more than $150 for anything that wasn't pristine and all matching.

If it was bubba'd in any way, $100 max.

Both the No4 and No 1 have wood to the barrel end, the No 4 barrel sticks out a bit for the bayo to lock on.

Prices IMHO are:

$50 for outstanding bargain matching or not, $150-200 for matching but no great collectable features and $300+ for collectables.

Point me in the direction of all the $250 matching nice condition SMLE's - I'll buy all you can find.

Honestly, they are bringing $250+ at shows if they aren't pitted bored, Ishy screwed, or otherwise undesireable.

No such thing as a "Dumb Question" If you didn't want to know, you wouldn't have asked.
Some "experts" get nasty in replying, thus driving away another potential collector.

However I would suggest looking at Enfields in gun stores and gun shows to get a better idea of prices in your area as they do vary. As with any other firearm, it all comes down to condition. Junk is junk and good stuff is good stuff.

Well said John, out west $300 will get you a beat-up Enfield.

First thing I notice on the No. 1 Mk. III is that the rear sight is forward of the receiver, like a Mauser, and on the Number 4 it is next to your eye over the bolt.

Yes Ive seen the $250 Enfields but I have not bought them, have you?

FWIW I passed on two No1Mk3* all matching but not pretty specimens for about $140 each last year. They had no "collectable" value to me. (But I'm not an Enfield guru, so maybe I missed something)

I've also bought two in the last two years for $40 and $150 each. One is C-Arrow marked everywhere it should be and all matching less the bolt ($40) and the other is an all matching Lithgow with proof markings from WW1 to post WW2 ($150). The Lithgow sat in the EE form for months, (no photo), and I bought it off valleyguns (photos).

And no I'm not sharing my seceret Milsurp sources :)

You peckerheads will drive the price up :p
