feed back please!

The older M16s had black furniture and the finish on the receivers were a little bit more light gray than they are today but that doesn't mean that people didn't paint or wrap their rifles to change the colours.

The M16E1 came in grey/green color and through use, it turned into silver/green color. The handguards were shiny grey/black color.

I found this picture on arfcom about the different colours of the receivers:

The aluminum receivers went through a series of grey shades that got progressively darker and eventually black.

The stocks were more interesting. The first run of 300 model 601 rifles were mottled red and brown, painted chocolate brown. Here you can the paint is gone from the handguard, but the butt still has it:

the next 15000 or so model 601s were painted grass green:

After that, they began incorporating black pigment into the stock plastic when it was being molded, and they have been more or less black ever since.

Bushmasters came in purple at one point, however, it wasn't necessarily intentional. ;)
