I have a Norc shorty in a USGI stock and that glaring hole is driving me nuts! Dirt gets in there and it is just ugly. I have seen the SparrowHawks kits with either the dummy button, dummy button with connector rod and the fake ambi selector switch. The only issue - this explicitly state they won't ship outside of USA. Are there any options for us North of the border?

Pretty sure guys here have ordered them in from Brownells. They aren't the full kit like Hawks. This piece just fills in the hole. The item number at Brownells is: 100-005-279WB

Sure, there's some pics around here someplace of guys having done it. There's a screw and a pin. You'd want to epoxy the screw into place though. I had one similar to it I got from Fulton Armory a few years ago for a Sage EBR. It's an aluminum chassis so I tapped the hole I drilled for a machine screw.

I did the drill and drill method with my unit from Brownells (they will ship this to us) and it looks cool. Of course it won't go FA on you, but it sure looks KEWL! :D

It is fun to have on there and bring to the M14 clinics to show people. Go ahead and order one. I too, that hole on the side sure was annoying looking, hence the Brownells FA dummy kit.

Peace out and see ya at CQB M3 on 01 Jun!

Cheers,
Barney

I don't like how it doesn't utilize a full length connector, anyone know if the one from brownells can be adapted to use a GI connector?

Nope its made from pot metal so its just designed to fill the selector hole.
If ya want to use the connector rod ya are gonna have to source the usgi parts up here an build one but be prepared to pay for them as there are hard to find up here.
