I did Duracoat on a couple projects...
I did my Bell and Carlson synthetic stock... there were some issues with the finished colour not looking anything like the web site pictures (but they weren't black)... the "rose wood" looked like a light tan... and the "German red" looked like a salmon pink... I had to mix black in to get it darker so it didn't look like a girl's gun...
Here's the savage stock:
I did an old BB gun with flat black... and it looks fantastic... Here's a before and after:
I ordered from Fab Sports, and he's wonderful to deal with...
I used the can sprayer on the stock, and upgraded to an air brush for the BB gun... both work well, but I find the coats go on much more evenly with the air brush, and it's easier to control... Fab sports sells the entry level air brush and propellant...
The stuff is PERMANENT! I didn't wear gloves the first time I used it... I got some on my finger nails... no solvent, soap, or scraping could get it off! I had to file it off!
I'd use it again for any refinishing project with the following pointers:
1- well ventilated
2- use the air brush
3- wear gloves and an N95 mask
