...here's the before - just another ubiquious stainless/synthetic T3 Varmint.

Here's the after - DuraCoated in their Underbrush pattern. Sorry for the lousy pic but hopefully I'll be able to get some better ones in the near future. (Those with sharp eyes will note that the scopes are different)

I just got my Varmint in .223 last week... I applaud your willingness to alter a new rifle to such extremes! Do what makes you happy - screw the naysayers!!! :)

It will be interesting to see if the duracoat holds up on the bolt... did they sandblast it before coating?

Too rich for my blood. hahaha. I use cheap-ass Krylon and paint up my nice guns to match the seasons. I've taken so much flak from friends that see my guns.. If all it's doing is sitting on a bench or hiding in a vault, leave it the way the dealer gave it to you. But mine are all "tools", and are treated as such. If a turkey can see my gun, it get's painted so it can't, if a deer can see the shine off a barrel, then it get's flat on it. If it's a benchrest rifle, then I jewel the bolt, polish the barrel and rub tung oil on it to make the grain shine... If you spend all kinds of money on a tool, make sure you get the most enjoyment out of it. If you like it, it's perfect because it's yours.

Good on ya.. I like it. Just don't only lay behind it on the range.

Did it myself and sandblasted the bolt so the coating sticks. I have never liked the look of stainless steel - too shiney and common! I've had the rifle for a year and a half and figured it was time for a change.

I would have preferred the varmint in blued matte, but LH only comes in stainless!

Throw a few more green swatches on that sucker, and it will look 100x better. :)

Well, it does go a long way towards un-fuglying the factory tupperware a bit. The 'tikka-ness' still shows through though, and they're not what I'd call attractive rifles.

I sure wish they made the Varmint in a blued/walnut combination, as I'm seriously considering buying one, but an having a hard time coming to grips with spending a K on an ugly gun
