Durham Region

Good morning Gents

I was wondering if some guys could help me out. I'm moving to the Oshawa area and I'm giving up my small game hunting areas in the Barrie area (or at least making it more difficult to get to them) and I'm looking for some public places to go in the Durham Region Area. I have a 10 yr old step son chomping at the bit to get out and I have no where to go!

I'd love to get to know some guys from the area over a beer as well if you're looking for a partner.

Public areas close to Durham are difficult to find. My wife and her dad used to go to a public forest near Fenelon Falls, but thats a bit of a drive

Nonquon is a provincially owned tract near Port Perry that allows hunting (restrictions are posted). No target shooting though - that's enforced.

There are public areas north of Fenelon that are probably an hour and a half drive plus from your location. I believe their called the Queen Elizabeth Wildlands or some such.

Public water fowl hunting at the marsh along the Lake Ontario shoreline, east of the GM headquarters. The Ganaraska Forest allows hunting, with a user permit, in dedicated areas. Nonquon as already noted and other than that, it's pretty much all private land in Durham Region that requires owner permission.
