Has anyone here been stung with a significant duty charge when ordering Euro scopes from the US?

5% duty rate, MFN tariff treatment (non-NAFTA)
So, just to simplify, you buy a scope from Europe for CA$100
VFD = $100.00
5% Duty = $ 5.00
--------------
DPV = $105.00
8% PST(Ont)= $8.40
6% GST = $6.30
---------------
Total payable to the Fed's in Ontario: $19.70
This is outside of any freight or postage handling fee. If you are a business, you can avoid PST in most instances otherwise, you are S.O.L.
