Anyone else having issues with recent purchases of Winchester Dynapoints (purchased at Wally World)?
I bought a couple of boxes a few weeks back, and have noticed an above average number of "dead heads". :(
I know that with these bulk packs you can (should) expect lower quality, but I had over a dozen in less than 1/2 a box  This is what I might expect from an entire box. And this was spread out over four different firearms (two rifles and two handguns).
Just curious...

Honestly, I've NEVER had a 'dud' 22lr that was the fault of the ammo. In tens of thousands of 22lr fired, the only ones to fail to go bang are ones fired in guns with firing pin issues. Same with centerfire primers - they're dead nuts reliable, unless used in a gun with issues.

With 22lr, some are pickier than others, so they may manifest issues where other types of ammo may not. But, if I were you, I'd take this as a sign to check your gun out. Check the condition of the pin, the protrusion, the extractor, the headspace (if you've got the gauges), etc.

it's been my experience that sometimes these things need either a second whack or rotate it so the firing pin hits a different part of the rim- esp the ones near the bottom of the box- and it's not just dynapoints- feds too

Sorry, but I find that hard to believe.

X2. Put it aside, reload it after you're done with that box, chances are it'll fire on the second try once the firing pin hits a different part of the rim.

Well, you're certainly free to believe anything you want, but I've gone through 3 cases worth of 22lr this year (mostly federal), and the only gun that ever produced 'click' instead of 'bang' was my 10/22. Replacing the firing pin and machining the bolt down to minimum headspace corrected that in a hurry.

I have not once ever had a 'click' in my Sav mk2, browning buckmark, t-bolt or anything else.

I especially think there's a gun issues here reading the bit about 'expecting' about a dozen duds per box (!!!)

Case in point, went to a certain Montreal club (which shall remain nameless) last week and rented a souped up 10/22 for him to play with (restricted PAL but never pulled a trigger in his life), the damned thing wouldn't extract, and misfired every 5-6 rounds or so, I went back and told them about it "oh it's probably dirty" is what they told me, replaced it with a CZ and everything went smoothly. Only then did I find out that my buddy really wanteds to try an AR or a handgun, neither of which I had at hand .... We'll be back on friday though, hopefully he'll get his wish then ...

I haven't bought any Dynas recently, but I have a sh*t load of older stock. I've fired about 6000 rounds of the stuff with maybe 5 duds. I sure hope the new stock isn't bad, because it's pretty much all I shoot in .22.

I had the same results with Dynapoits I bought few mounths ago. :( most of then won't fire after 2-3 strikes (after the round has been rotated).

did you by it at wallmart in fairveiw mall? cuse they arnt that good with there ammo, half the time they cant find the key to the cabnit, most of the employees dont know a .22lr from a shot shell, and store policy is no exchange or refunds on ammo whatsoever. wife bought some shells there and was given 20ga. when she asked for 12ga. (dint knowtis till i looked at them at home) the canadian tire across the street seems better, prices are the same.

thats what i have knowtist

or it could be a kitchener thing cuse i had a few ftf at the range during my course

..... The only "problem" I've been having with DynaPoints lately, is finding the damn stuff (in bulk packs) ! ..... shooting them out of a Brno bolt action.... really good groups, and I'd love to buy some more ! .... David K. :canadaFlag:..

NEVER had a 'dud' 22lr that was the fault of the ammo? I'm currently using up the dregs of a case of Remington Target .22. I'm getting misfires in almost every firearm I shoot it in (2 or 3 duds a box). The same firearms are firing new ammo perfectly. The Rem ammo is 5 years old. Many will fire if rotated and rechambered. In this situation I'm positive the problem is the ammo.

i've also had some "dud"s that fired after putting them through a HAMMER fired 22 than a striker fired 22- i happen to be lucky enough to own both styles

I can't say NEVER but I've had maybe 10 dud's in 35years of shooting rimfire. I have never had more than one dud in a box, no matter what size of box it was. X2 on the firing pin issues.

I use and enjoy Win Dynopoints. The only duds I find are in the rifles that have the firing pin issues as well. I find that they work extremely well in my revolvers , and rifles with sharp firing pins. Firearms with rounded or thick firing pins tend to need to be run through twice to fire. One even needed to have the firing pin spring shimmed to fire consistently. I think that Winchester might have thicker brass and as a result of this, needs more of a whack to fire. KD

Pretty sure I got 'em at the Sunrise Plaza.
Their bulk Federal Champion is $1 less than Crappy Tire (I know, after my DynaDud experience, I went to C.T. first and bought two boxes, then went to W.W. and found the difference... oh well).

To the fellas that suggested firing pin issues, rotating them etc. ... no offense but maybe you missed the part where I mentioned I had four guns on the go. 597, 10/22, Buckmark and a MK III. No round went into the misfire bin unless it had at least two solid strike marks.

This was simply a poor lot.
I just came back from the range (597 and 10/22 again), a couple more DynaDuds, no issues at all with the Federal stuff.

I've gone through 2 bricks of dynapoints withought any dud's, but I've got a bolt action. That being said I still have another 4 bricks to go, to try and find a dud!
