So I have a hankering to play with a new load for the 270.

For 26 years I have shot 140 gr Hornady's over 53.5 gr of IMR 4350 for a vellocity of 2975 and 1/2 groups (when I do my part).

This load has taken deer, sheep, goats, moose, elk and bears with no problems (knock on wood)

I know, why screw when it ain't broken, but I am in the mood to see what else shoots well.

I have already played with Accubond and Partitions and although they are great bullets, they really do nothing more than the Hornady's.

I am looking for the monolithic type bullet and see that E-tips and GMX are available to reloaders.

So has there been any experiences with either of these two?? Likes, dislikes ect. A buddy of mine shot a moose this year with a 180 gr E-tip out of his 300 short mag and it preformed exactly like the pictures say it should.

I already know the wonders of the Barnes, so please do not fill the post up with "Barnes or go home crap" I am looking for info on the others or if you have compared the three. any info you may have.

Also, why are the Barnes so much more expensive??? Maybe Bartell can explain that.

Cheers

I think since the price of copper has gone through the roof in recent years, that a bullet made entirely of it would be more than one with a thin jacket of it. Lead still costs less per pound than copper.
I am curious too about the GMX and Etip. I have used the X recently with a few calibers and have been entirely pleased with the results. (.338 win mag - 225 gr. ,
.30-06 - 165 gr, .25-06 (100 gr) and all shot well in my guns. I will be heading down south shortly, so any info on the other 2 will be appreciated on my end too.

Give Hirsch Precision a call back east. He's the Canadian Lapua rep and thats where I get my 338 Naturalis, solid copper long range hunting bullets. You can google Naturalis also. good video's Not sure what all cal., it's available in..but man does it shoot in 338LM. Its a 231 gr bullet.

Have you shot any moose or elk with these bullets?
