I am considering buying what I think is bubba's EAL.

Serial number 60XX

Rear sight is a Lyman folding sight dovetailed into the knox form.

Front sight looks like a commercial ramp dovetailed onto the barrel. Ramp takes #4 sights.

Forestock has a long finger groove.

Has a 5 shot mag stamped Made in England on the bottom.

Has been driled and trapped for a scope base by the current owner. he did this last week to enhance it's sales appeal....

Is this a military contract rifle. Can the front sight be changed back to a military front sight?

Hard to tell you much from your description what you have. Farmerized something would be my guess. Post some photographs.

EALs have a ramp front sight base dovetailed into the barrel. The actual front sight is issue, and clamped with an Allen screw. Both the commercial sale and military rifles use this sight arrangement. The military ones have a 2 leaf folding sight dovetailed into the breech of the barrel. One leaf folds foreward, the other back. I don't think it is a Lyman, although a Lyman could have been fitted as a replacement.

Does it actually say EAL on the left side of the receiver? Love to see some pics, lots of expertise on here.
