EAL rifle

I have an EAL rifle in .303 British. It is commonly mistaken for a sporterized No. 4, Mk. 1 but in fact it was produced by a private firm after WW2 using Longbranch parts and apparently was issued to the RCAF and Rangers. Is there a collector value to this firearm?l

Depending on the pattern of the rear sight, and other details, it could have been a secondary issue rifle, or a commercially assembled sporting rifle. There are folks who are interested in these. Actual selling prices seem to vary considerably.

If it is marked EAL on the left sidewall, if it has not been drilled, if the red rubber buttplate is still there, and if the cute little 5-shot mag is still here - it is probably worth as much as a No.4 Mk1* in very good condition. You are right that most owners undervalue or misidentify these rifles.

The internet is a wonderful thing as has been able to teach many new owners what they have or help them not buy worthless dogs.

I can recall having a rifle like this as a survival rifle on a RCAF aircraft, complete with soft point ammo. I have always wanted one.

I have one of each, both the ranger issued one and the commercial one.

lots of threads on the EAL. Prices will range but condition is the key, as I have seen several baddly bubbaed EAL's.

EAL's are collectable. Post a picture or 2 and you will get an opinion on its orginality and value.

I prefer Enfield Fiend

or horder of enfields, I'll buy anything as long as its cheap, oh and if I get some rare ones in the mix that much the better.
