My mother-in-law bought it brand new to go skeet shooting with her ex-husband. She used it a couple times and then kept it her closet, unused, since then.

It has a pristine barrel but the outer metal has a bit of rust pitting and the wood is a little rough but pretty good for so ething that spent 40+ years in a closet with no protection.

I have shot it a couple times and plan on going chicken hunting with it next autumn.

Anyone have any suggestions on adding a sling? My problem is that there are no sling attachment points like on my milsurps.

Cheers !!

I'm with Grouse Man on this.
If you need to pack it any distance, they do make cases for these take down shotguns.
Or a back pack style of gun holster.

I carried a 20 gauge 870 express for an average of 3km at each spot, on foot each grouse hunt this fall. I often totaled 10km plus on foot each day grouse hunting according to my GPS. I never used the sling and didn't find the gun heavy. I would think a 20 gauge single would be even easier carrying and would strongly advise like other posters have that a shotgun will serve you best in your hands while hunting grouse.

Not everone "truck hunts", and actually walk to where the game is, hense the use for a sling.
Can't put a typical drill/screw in stud for a front sling, 'cause the front stock pulls off too easy.
Win. 370 is the first shotgun I bought, and the last one I will sell.

Thank you all for your excellent comments and advice.

I want to keep the gun original so a scabbard-type backpack seems advisable. It would only be for times when I'm walking to where I'll be hunting since, as Grouse man says... "You need the gun in your hands when the birds flush" !!

Cheers !!

None of my guns have slings and I am no 'truck hunter'. Again, if you're walking, you're hunting.

While the gun in question wont apply, a sling while big game hunting is of utmost value. How do you suppose you're dragging a deer and holding your rifle at the same time?

Also, I often have a gun on a sling while im trail clearing in the fall. If the bird is dumb, I have time to unsling the gun, load, and shoot. If not, owell.
