Earplug for Indoor Shooting

Earplugs don't cover the Mastoid Bone,
that's why muffs are required to protect your hearing.

I recently paid out $ 1,700.00 for hearing aids due to damage from shooting.
Do yourself a favour & protect your hearing. Losing it is NOT fun.

Thank you, I did not know that.

Yes, and its not to be taken lightly. One of our range officials was not aware of that either for a certain period of time in his younger days. Today, he suffers from fairly severe tinitis, and his hearing just gets worst and worst.

I've always been a fan of Peltor ear protectors for light industrial use - I'm sure they have something in their product line applicable for range use. Having recently gotten back into shooting, I'll be looking for a set too; anyone have any recommendations for those fancy electronic ones? (I'm sure Peltor offers them too)

For indoor use, I double up with a pair of Surefire EP3 earplugs and a pair of electronic earmuffs. Very comfy, cuts down the noise dramatically, and I can still have conversations with people if needed.

Outdoors I just wear either set depending on what I'm shooting that day (plugs if I'm shooting rifles for better cheek placement on the stock)

+1

And you have the nice option to shut everyone up by turning the electronics off.

That's what mine cost. Each.

Check out SRS Tactical, top right corner of page. That's where I bought my Peltors. Excellent service.

Best plugs I've ever used are the custom moulded silicone plugs.

I have the custom ear plugs and they still give me a headache if I shoot indoors.I use both the plugs and muffs now a days.My biggest problem with hearing is recruitment that is worse then not hearing.

Do any Canadian retailers carry Howard Leight, specifically the Impact Sport? I'm a noob and decided to start out cheap with a bunch of disposable Peltor plugs paired the passive Peltor Shotgunner cups, which should suffice for now since I'm only interested in rimfire plinking at the present. However I would like to eventually upgrade to active, slim profile, electronic cups, I just don't dig the dual volume controls on the Peltor line.

I thought sonic defender plugs were OK for indoor range -- definitely not the case if anything substantial is being fired next to you...
