I just dropped into the LGS to ship off a rifle and ended up walking out with a box of Hornady 139gr Interlocks for the 7mm.

I don't know if it is the odd number throwing me out or not but what I am hoping to hear some good feedback on this Projectile for use on the Deers and the "elk" sized game I encounter.

I'm using the 150gr factory jacketed projectiles and they appear nice and hard for the moderate velocity the 7mil 08 is pushing them at, box says 2600 odd......... by rights I should be able to get up around 2800ish and with 140grains

I rekon I have seen a few replies regarding the 139gr in the past, just hoping to hear some hunting reports with them

cheers

It's a decent bullet, one of the best of the standard construction cup and core type. If you shot a Sambar or similar size deer in the ribs with your 7-08 I'd predict you will find that bullet in the hide of the off side in a nice mushroom shape, and weighing about 100 grains. Wouldn't suggest that you aim for the big shoulder bone ( Humerus) though. That's what your Whelan is for.

alright thanks,
my offerings were accubonds for $74/50, Woodleigh 140gr $49/50 or GMX for $100/100 , I took the Interlocks for $45/100..

I'm more interested in hearing the response for the particular bullet been used, as I used the 130gr corelokt out of the 270win at around 2850fps o good effect, close an far , so I think the 140gr range with the Velocity range will suit well, esp after previously using the 150gr accubond and Corelokt in 308win, I'm not particularly fussed with speed with this Kimber, it will be more to try get 3 into an inch and call it a day, which it done with 150gr Federals, just hope it isn't a case of liking a 150gr projectile weight!

Keep them coming

thanks

Wow bullets are expensive in Australia.

They are great bullets as long as you don't run them to fast, any cup and core can come apart at high velocity.

At 2800 FPs they should be fine on deer sized game, I would probably choose a tougher design on Elk/Moose sized animals.
