I've never done this before, but I've been wanting to for some time, since I've heard bad things about the throat area and bore/rifling tolerances of Chinese SKS chambers. Is there an easy way to do this with essentially no tools? If not, how much would it cost for a gunsmith to do it?
Not only that, once the chamber cast is done and I find out just how ugly the chamber/throat is, how would one go about re-cutting the chamber on an SKS? Because the barrel is threaded and has a gas port at a fixed location on the barrel, I don't think it's possible to just knock the barrel back 1/2" and re-ream the chamber. Can a gunsmith make an insert to repair an out-of-tolerance chamber & throat in this case? Any help would be much appreciated
Thanx!
