Eastern GTA Gun Clubs

This may be redundant if it is I apologize if not, great.

So I just got my PAL, and I'm a total firearm newbie, I started looking around for gun clubs in the Bowmanville/Oshawa area. There are a variety of them but it appears most of them aren't accepting new membership, or it's incredibly difficult to get a hold of anyone at a club to discuss membership.

Does anyone have any tips or techniques for getting in contact with people, perhaps getting involved in the club before membership to show interest/dedication.

check this list here in the Newbie section for all gun clubs in Ontario, take some time and just start calling like crazy!

I have heard of some people driving from the GTA all the way to Silverdale Gun Club (where I am a member) .. it is a great range but that seems like an insane drive.. yet lots of people I talk to are from the Toronto area

I cant wrap my head around that personally since i'm only 15 minutes from the range hah.. just check all the ones close by out and give them a call!

I appreciate that! I'd love to check the club out sometime, it's in Hamilton if I'm not mistaken?

Yeah I've sent emails and such and received some feedback from some of the clubs but generally that feedback is, "talk to us in 2014". Some of the clubs require sponsors or even shares in the club which makes the process all that more complicated. The next step for me has got to be calling them up, or perhaps just showing up and meeting some people...unless that's weird.

If you are going to have to drive that far, you can always drive the other way (East) and check out Madoc or Picton. Small towns but great ranges. Madoc has heated indoor handgun range as well as 3 outdoor ranges. and a 100, 200 and 400 yard rifle range, with a woodstove. Picton has 3 trap ranges and a clubhouse, handgun and 100 yard rifle. much cheaper memberships than anything near Toronto ($100-125). And Guests are welcome, only 5$.

The Grange/Target Sports membership is full now. If you want a day use, that's still open but only M-F you can bring your own guns. S-S is packaged shoots only. If you don't have an RPAL and unless you're shooting 22LR or shotty, it's pointless there.
